Key Endorsement Adds to Growing Momentum
CINCINNATI, OH – U.S. Senator Rob Portman announced today that he is endorsing Jane Timken in the U.S. Senate race to fill his seat.
“I believe Jane Timken is the best candidate to advance conservative Republican policies to help Ohio workers and families. Jane is smart and hard working, and understands the needs of Ohioans. I believe Ohioans would be proud to have her representing us in the United States Senate. She has a record of success, including working tirelessly for years to support Republicans at every level. She led the effort as Ohio Republican Party chair to elect Republicans to all statewide constitutional offices in 2018, and to win Ohio by 8 points for President Trump in 2020,” said Portman. “I am confident in her ability to win both the primary and the general elections, ensuring that this Senate seat remains Republican with a 50-50 Senate, and so much at stake.”

He is a champion for the unborn, a protector of our 2nd Amendment rights, and worked with President Trump to advance three conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court.”
Portman’s endorsement adds to the growing enthusiasm behind Timken’s candidacy and is a clear shift in this race. Recent polling shows that Timken, a first-time candidate, has surged on the ballot and is within striking distance of the lead.
Senator Portman is one of the most successful elected officials in Ohio history. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 2010, winning by 18 points. He was reelected in 2016 by an even more impressive 21 points, winning 84 of Ohio’s 88 counties and receiving over 3.1 million votes – the third highest vote total for any elected official in Ohio’s history.
He has built a reputation in the Senate as a respected conservative leader who can bring people together to deliver results.
Portman was instrumental in getting a number of President Trump’s major legislative accomplishments through the Senate. His leadership was critical to Congress passing the historic tax cuts and tax reform, and his strong and steadfast support publicly and behind the scenes helped send Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court.
President Trump has praised Portman on numerous occasions, and when President Trump was here in Ohio during the campaign, he said that Rob is “a friend of mine who’s an incredibly respected man in the United States Senate. When he speaks, we all listen, including the president.”
