U.S. Senate Candidate Jane Timken Condemns Joe Biden’s Nomination of Steve Dettelbach to Lead the ATF

April 11, 2022

CANTON, OH – U.S. Senate candidate Jane Timken released the following statement:
“The nomination of Steve Dettelbach to lead the ATF is an affront to Americans’ 2nd Amendment rights. Dettelbach is an anti-gun activist who has endorsed gun bans and restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. The Biden Administration already has a troubled pattern of weaponizing its agencies against political opponents, and we cannot allow anti-gun activists to use the power of the ATF to target law-abiding citizens with gun registries and other illegal infringements. As Party Chair in Ohio, I worked with now Attorney General Dave Yost to ensure Dettelbach was defeated in 2018, and as a U.S. Senator, I would work to defeat his nomination to the ATF.

Democrats’ activist nominations and hollow gun bans do nothing to stop crime, and only punish law-abiding gun owners. If Democrats were truly interested in stopping crime and violence, they would secure the border, end their ‘Defund the Police’ nonsense, and arrest, prosecute and punish violent criminals. That’s exactly what I will fight for as Ohio’s next United States Senator to protect our 2nd Amendment rights and stand for law and order.”
